They were analyzed in a temperature-controlled lab on a Guildline 8400B Salinometer standardized with IAPSO standard seawater within 16-19 days after collection. For details, see document QF2024-043SAL*.xlsx. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and quick frozen in aluminum blocks stored in a -20C freezer. All samples were returned to the Institute of Ocean Sciences and they were analyzed using an Astoria-Pacific Analyzer following methods described in IOS Nutrient Methods (1996) Barwell-Clarke, J. and F. Whitney. For details see document QF2024-043_NUTS*.xlsx. Chlorophyll samples were filtered onto 25mm GF/F filters after collection, and immediately frozen and stored in a -80C freezer. All samples were returned to the Institute of Ocean Sciences and analyzed 7 weeks after the cruise on a Turner Trilogy7200-000 fluorometer. Fluorescence readings taken before and after sample acidification were used to calculate chlorophyll and phaeopigment concentrations. There were only 5 salinity calibration samples taken during this cruise, of which only 2 were below 5m. 4 samples differed from the CTD salinity by 0.005psu or less. The only outlier was from a cast with a very high vertical salinity gradient at 5m. Salinity is likely good to +/-0.005psu. Extracted chlorophyll samples were only available from the surface. CTD data are not reliable at that depth with large spikes at the surface. The ratio of CTD Fluorescence to Extracted CHL samples was somewhat lower than usual except for CHL>10ug/L. Oxygen:Dissolved:SBE values cannot be confirmed as there was no calibration sampling for dissolved oxygen. Surface saturation values were between 85% and 165% with all values <100% coming from areas where vertical mixing may be strong.
