Remarks from CTDEDIT:
CTDEDIT was used to remove records corrupted by shed wakes at the top
and bottom of the cast.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Data Processing Notes:
----------------------
Oxygen:Dissolved, Conductivity, PAR and Fluorescence:URU:Wetlabs data are nominal and
unedited except that some records were removed in editing temperature and salinity.
There were only 6 salinity calibration samples taken during this cruise, of which only 3 were
below 5m, of which 1 was collected an hour later than the CTD cast with which it was compared.
The CTD data were lower than the 2 useful bottle samples by about 0.001psu; the CTD may be
reading low by a little more than that suggests due to incomplete flushing of NIskin bottles.
Salinity is likely good to +/-0.005psu.
8 extracted chlorophyll samples were gathered at the surface using a bucket, and 3 samples came
from a Niskin bottle at 5m. CTD data for comparison were drawn from between 1.1db and 2.1db.
The ratio of CTD Fluorescence to Extracted CHL samples was somewhat lower than usually seen, but
this may be due to the sampling being so shallow. The ratio dropped with increasing CHL, as is
usually seen from these sensors.
Oxygen:Dissolved:SBE values cannot be confirmed as there was no calibration sampling for
dissolved oxygen. Surface saturation values were between 70% and 110% with all values below 80%
coming from near the Gulf Islands where strong vertical mixing is likely to be strong.
Dissolved oxygen data from these sensors tend to be low by between 1% and 3%.
For details on the processing see document: 2024-030_Processing_Report.doc.
