For samples 400m and deeper a second set of samples are collected and stored cool for silicate analysis. All samples were returned to the Insitute of Ocean Sciences and they were analyzed using an Astoria-Pacific Analyzer following methods described in "IOS Nutrient Methods (1996) Barwell-Clarke and Whitney". This is the first cruise to use these sensors since they were last serviced at the factory. There was no salinity or dissolved oxygen calibration sampling during this cruise. Pressure calibration looks excellent based on values at the surface. No recalibration was applied. On most occasions there was no stop for bottles at 5m. On many occasions 2 bottles were fired at once with the result that only 1 BL file was created. In order to create a recordd with which to associate the nutrient samples which came from each of the bottles, the BL files had to be manually edited. For 5m bottles that had no stop, this results in about a 1m difference in depths for the 2 records.
