This will be especially true when vertical DO gradients are large. To get an estimate of the accuracy of the SBE DO data during downcasts (after recalibration) a rough comparison was made between downcast SBE Dissolved Oxygen and upcast titrated samples. Some of the difference will be due to incomplete flushing of Niskin bottles and imperfect matches in levels from the two data sets as well as errors in sample analysis/collection, so the following statement likely underestimates SBE DO accuracy.
