Samples were transferred to a temperature-controlled room for storage until they were analyzed. Samples were analyzed onshore, in a temperature-controlled lab on a Guildline AutoSalinometer Model 8400B (SN: 73274), which was standardized with IAPSO standard seawater (OSIL, batch P166, expiry 6 April 2025, salinity 34.995 PS All samples were run within three months of collection (November 2023) back at the Institute of Ocean Sciences. Precision was determined by collecting 10% of samples as replicates to give a pooled standard deviation (Sp).
