For details including a precision analysis, see document QF2023-008_OXY*.xlsx. Salinity samples were collected in 200 mL type ll glass bottles with disposable nylon inserts and screw caps supplied by Ocean Scientific International Limited. They were analyzed in a temperature-controlled lab on a Guildline 8400B Salinometer standardized with IAPSO standard seawater 17-37 days after collection. For details see document QF2023-008_SAL*.xlsx. Chlorophyll samples were filtered onto 25mm GF/F filters after collection, and immediately frozen and stored in a -80C freezer. All samples were returned to the Institute of Ocean Sciences and analyzed 6 weeks after the cruise on a Turner Trilogy7200-000fluorometer, using methods described in Holm-Hansen et al(1965). Fluorescence readings taken before and after sample acidification were used to calculate chlorophyll and phaeopigment concentrations. NOTE: Flags and comments apply to chlorophyll values only. No flags or comments are assigned for Phaeo-Pigment values For further details on methodology, see document QF 2023-008CHL_*.xlsx Methodology sheet. References: 1. NOTE: While the CTD fluorescence data are expressed in concentration units, they do not always compare well to extracted chlorophyll samples, particularly for casts far from shore. It is recommended that users check extracted chlorophyll values where available. Calibration sampling was for this cruise and others that have used the sensors since the last factory service were limited to shallow casts in areas where flushing of bottles is likely to be incomplete. Recalibration of both dissolved oxygen and salinity was guided by a post-cruise calibration in early 2024, but there were several other cruises between 2023-008 anad that factory check. For details on the processing see the report: 2023-008_Processing_Report.doc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *CALIBRATION $TABLE: CORRECTED CHANNELS !
