Deployment Scheme: There was no pre-cast 10m soak. The CTD soaked at about 1m with bottles out of water, where possible. Data acquisition began immediately. Soak times varied. The SBE DO sensor has a fairly long response time so data accuracy is not as high when it is in motion as it is during stops for bottles. This will be especially true when vertical DO gradients are large. To get an estimate of the accuracy of the SBE DO data during downcasts, a rough comparison was made between downcast SBE DO, after recalibration, and upcast titrated samples. There are too few data available to base an error estimate on only the data from this cruise. Results from previous cruises using the same equipment were considered in making an estimate. Some of the difference will be due to problems with flushing of Niskin bottles and/or analysis errors, so the following statement likely underestimates SBE DO accuracy.
