Sample_Number 241: NUTS: cracked tube, sample lost Analysis methods: ----------------- Chlorophyll samples were filtered onto 25mm GF/F filters and stored in cryovials in liquid nitrogen onboard, then transferred to -80C storage in the lab until analysis. Samples were extracted in 90% acetone at -20C for 24 +/-1 hours in the lab, analyzed on on a Turner Trilogy7200-000 flourometer calibrated with commercially pure chlorophyll a standard (Sigma) Fluorescence readings taken before and after acidification were used to calculate chlorophyll and phaeopigment concentrations (Holm-Hansen et al 1965). Chlorophyll samples were analyzed at IOS in Room 2423 15 weeks after the cruise. Chlorophyll values ranged from 0.00 - 0.81 ug/L in 414 samples. 71 of 414 samples were below Minimum Limit of Detection (10, and 9 duplicates had a CV%>30. 10 duplicates were rejected (A or B), improving the %CV to 6.59% over 161 duplicate pairs, with 26 samples having a CV%>10 and 4 having a %CV>30. Our average dataset %CV is 3.89 % for 2013 - 2021 using the Turner 10-AU - so the overall quality of this dataset is acceptable. Minimum Limit of Detection (MLD): The stated MLD for the Turner Trilogy 7200-000 fluorometer is 0.025 ug/L for CHL-a.
