There were 2 WetLabs CStar transmissometers in use during this cruise: Channel Transmissivity refers to sensor #1185DR (650nm - red) Channel Transmissivity:Green refers to sensor #1883DG (530nm - green) For comparison with other Institute of Ocean Sciences cruises, note that the transmissometer wavelength is 650nm unless otherwise stated. NOTE: While the SBE fluorescence data are expressed in concentration units, they do not always compare well to extracted chlorophyll samples, particularly for casts far from shore. Both salinity channels were found to be reading much lower relative to bottle samples than in cruises the preceded it and followed it using the same equipment. Samples were analysed fairly quickly after collection so samples are not expected to have been greatly affected by evaporation or desorption of glass particles. Recalibration was based on a post-cruise factory calibration which was also in agreement with the bottle comparison for the cruise that followed 2021-036. Given some concerns about possible flushing problems, the recalibration of channel Oxygen:Dissolved:SBE was based on data from 300db to the bottom of casts where vertical DO gradients were low. The correction found fell midway between those from the cruises before and after this one. Near-surface dissolved oxygen saturation rates were in the typical range for the offshore region. The SBE DO sensor has a fairly long response time so data accuracy is not as high when it is in motion as it is during stops for bottles. This will be especially true when vertical DO gradients are large. To get an estimate of the accuracy of the SBE DO data during downcasts (after recalibration) a rough comparison was made between downcast SBE DO and upcast titrated samples. Much of the difference will be due to problems with flushing of Niskin bottles and/or analysis errors, so the following statement likely underestimates SBE DO accuracy.
