Values were significantly lower than both the secondary salinity and bottle salinity samples. The secondary salinity is also noisy but compares well with bottle samples. CTDEDIT was used to remove some records near the top and bottom of the cast and around 33db; salinity was cleaned. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Data Processing Notes: ---------------------- Channels Transmissivity, Fluorescence:URU:SeaPoint, PAR and Reference PAR are nominal and unedited except that some records were removed in editing temperature and salinity. The post-cruise calibrations indicate significant drift in the primary conductivity since the previous calibration. However, there is good evidence that no significant drift occurred during this cruise. Similarly, the post-cruise calibration of the dissolved oxygen sensor indicated significant damage that was not seen during this cruise. The standard deviations in both salinity channels were higher than usual in the Pacific Ocean section of the cruise, but this was due to 2-sided noise that mostly disappears in bin-averaging. The 2 channels were in good agreement with each other and with bottle samples. Primary channels were selected for most casts as there was slightly less noise. However, the secondary channels were selected for event #50 due to a large section of bad data in the primary channels. Channel Oxygen:Dissolved:SBE was recalibrated based on bottle samples taken in the Pacific Ocean section of the cruise. CTD data were examined using a graphical editor. There are many unstable features in the T-S plots. Where these appeared to be due to corruption by shed wakes or ship effects the records were removed. Small unstable features that did not appear to be due to such effects or instrumental error were left unedited. The fluorescence data compare in the usual way with extracted chlorophyll samples with values higher than CHL when CHL<1ug/L, and falling to about 50% of CHL for higher CHL values.
