Salinity points were removed from the bottom portion of the cast because it appears the pump was not working properly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Data Processing Notes: ---------------------- Pressure and depth channels were recalibrated based on the level at which conductivity values approached 0 at the ends of casts. The error in pressure was between 3 and 4db, and the correction applied was -3.2db. Conductivity and Fluorescence:URU:Wetlabs data are nominal and unedited except that some records were removed in editing temperature and salinity. A correction was applied to fluorescence based on unusually high values at depth. Depth:Nominal refers to the target depth for the bottles. In some cases bottles may have closed above the target depth. CTD salinity values were higher than the bottle samples by a median of 0.008psu. Calibration sampling for salinity and dissolved oxygen was done at 3 sites. There are likely errors due to incomplete flushing of Niskin bottles and bottles being fired above the nominal depths. Both those errors would lead CTD salinity appearing to be higher than bottles. No recalibration was applied to the CTD salinity. Similarly, while Oxygen:Dissolved:SBE values appeared to be low by a median value of 3%, there was a lot of scatter in the reuslts. Samples coming from higher in the water column would mostly have higher values than found at the depth from which the CTD data come. So the error is likely <2%. No recalibration was applied to Oxygen:Dissolved:SBE. Warning: While the CTD fluorescence data are expressed in concentration units, they do not always compare well to extracted chlorophyll samples.
