Analysis methods: ----------------- Oxygen samples were analyzed at sea on an automated Winkler titration system (Brinkmann Dosimat model 665 for titrations, Dosimat model 865 for dispensing standards and a PC950 Colorimeter controlled by AutoOxy software V3.4) with modifications based on Carpenter (1965) and adhering to WOCE protocols (Culberson 1991). For details including a duplicate analysis, see document QF2014-27OXY*.xls. Salinity samples were collected in 200 mL type ll glass bottles with reusable silicone inserts supplied by Xiamen Cuten Accessories Industry Limited and screw caps supplied by Ocean Scientific International Limited. They were analyzed in a temperature-controlled lab on a Guildline 8400B Salinometer (S/N 68572) standardized with IAPSO standard seawater 4 to 9 days after collection. For details see document QF2014-27SAL*.xls. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and quick frozen in aluminum blocks stored in -20 freezer. All analysis was performed on frozen samples at IOS. They were analyzed using an Astoria analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). For details on how the transmissivity calibration parameters were calculated see the document in folder "\cruise_data\documents\transmissivity". Dissolved oxygen was calibrated using the method described in SeaBird Application Note #64-2, June 2012 revision, except that a small offset in the fit was allowed. For this cruise the results of 2014-06 were applied. The PAR:Reference channel was removed from casts #1-3 as there was no signal; there are very low signals from other casts, which are suspicious, but they were left in place. WARNING: The pH:SBE:Nominal data should be used with caution; no field calibration data were available at the time of processing. Calibration is required for each cast to get absolute values, although general trends within a cast are likely real. NOTE: The salinity was recalibrated to bring the Salinity:T1:C1 channel into agreement with Salinity:T0:C0, based on observations during later offshore cruises that found the Salinity:T0:C0 was very close to bottles. For details on the processing see the report: 2014-27_Processing_Report.doc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *CALIBRATION $TABLE: CORRECTED CHANNELS !
