Salinity samples were analyzed in a temperature-controlled lab on a Guildline 8400B Salinometer (S/N 68572) standardized with IAPSO standard seawater 3 to 4 months after collection. The precision is lower than usual. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Data Processing Notes: ---------------------- No recalibration was applied to these data. Post-cruise calibrations show no significant drift in conductivity and dissolved oxygen. SeaCat salinity errors are expected to be as high as 0.05 units in areas of high gradients. For these data temperature and salinity gradients were not extreme, so the error due to mismatch in T and C is estimated to be up to 0.02 in the top 100m and 0.005 below that, though editing and metre-averaging should reduce the errors somewhat. ISUS data were removed because there were no useful signals. PAR, PAR:Reference, Dissolved Oxygen, Transmissivity and Fluorescence data are nominal and have not been edited, except that some records were removed in the course of editing temperature and salinity. WARNING: There are concerns about how well the CTD data matches the bottle data especially near the surface, due to incomplete flushing of the Niskin bottles. In some cases the CTD had begun to rise before the bottle was fired, making the flushing problem worse. Where this led to significant outliers flag 2 and a comment were added, but there are probably many other cases that were not noticed.
