They were analyzed in Room 1409 at IOS using OSD Fluorometer calibrated in April 2012. The average of two samples is reported. Variability is assessed as the CV% (std dev / mean*100). Flags and comments apply to chlorophyll values only. For details including precision study see file QF2012-67nut_chl*.xls. Salinity samples were collected in 200 mL type ll glass bottles with reusable silicone inserts supplied by Xiamen Cuten Accessories Industry, Ltd. and screw caps supplied by Ocean Scientific International Limited. They were analyzed in a temperature-controlled lab at IOS on a Guildline 8400B salinometer standardized with IAPSO standard seawater 3 weeks after collection. Upcast CTD data were selected from 9db. CTD temperature and salinity are given with only 2 decimal places to remind users that the choice of data to match bottle contents is a rough estimate. Transmissivity and fluorescence are nominal and unedited except that some records were removed in editing temperature and salinity. Dissolved Oxygen data were recalibrated by adjusting the values of SOC and OFFSET in the configuration file, based on the results of cruise 2012-01, because there was no calibration sampling during this cruise. Since it is likely that some drift had occurred since February 2012, these data must be considered less reliable than usual. A further correction was based on cruise 2012-49 during which negative DO values were found in anoxic water. Salinity is considered +/-0.002 based primarily on a post-cruise calibration. A pH sensor was attached to the CTD, but the data are not included in the files to be placed in the IOS Data Library because no field calibration information was available at the time of processing, and there are some concerns about how the sensors perform.
