Adjustment was made for salinity values (when available) of <= 25 psu. Adjustment equation: Silicate:Corrected = Silicate * [1+((-0.003)*(32-S))] where, Silicate:Corrected = corrected silicate concentration in micromoles/litre Silicate = uncorrected silicate concentration in micromoles/litre -0.003 = salt correction factor 32 = salt concentration of artificial seawater used by the WPG Astoria Pacific continuous flow analyser S = salinity of the sample At Station: FR10, Sample Number: 20, Questionable bottle salinity, flag = 3. Silicate corrected using CTD salinity. ===================================================================================== Sample_Number 19: SAL: Problem suspected in all samples from 0 to 26db based on comparison with CTD salinity; possibly due to Autosal non-linearity. Sample_Number 20: SAL: Problem suspected in all samples from 0 to 26db based on comparison with CTD salinity; possibly due to Autosal non-linearity. Sample_Number 20: Si: poor dup Analysis methods: ----------------- Oxygen samples were analyzed at sea on an automated Winkler titration system (Brinkmann Dosimat model 765 and a PC950 Colorimeter controlled by AutoOxy software V3.4) with modifications based on Carpenter (1965) and adhering to WOCE protocols (Culberson 1991). For details including a duplicate analysis, see document QF2012-57oxy*.xls. Salinity samples were collected in 200 mL type ll glass bottles with reusable silicone inserts supplied by Xiamen Cuten Accessories Industry Limited and screw caps supplied by Ocean Scientific International Limited. They were analyzed in a temperature-controlled lab on a Guildline 8400B Salinometer (S/N 68572) standardized with IAPSO standard seawater 2.5 months after collection. Full details are in file QF2012-57sal*.xls. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and quick frozen in aluminum blocks stored in a -20C freezer and analyzed later at the Institute of Ocean Sciences using an Astoria analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). File QF2012-57nuts*.xls includes the raw data and a precision study. References: 1. Barwell-Clarke, J. and Whitney, F. 1996. Institute of Ocean Sciences Nutrient Methods and Analysis. For details on how the transmissivity calibration parameters were calculated see the document in folder "\cruise_data\documents\transmissivity". For further processing details see the processing report 2012-57-proc.doc. NOTE: The CTD pumps were not working during casts #2 and 3 and were on only very briefly during cast #4, so all pumped CTD channels were removed from those casts. *CALIBRATION $TABLE: CORRECTED CHANNELS !
