Samples were extracted in 90% acetone at -20C for 24 hours in the lab and analyzed on a Turner 10AU fluorometer calibrated with commercially pure chlorophyll a standard (Sigma). Fluorescence readings taken before and after acidification were used to calculate chlorophyll and phaeopigment concentrations (Holm-Hansen et al 1965). Chlorophyll samples were analyzed at IOS ~6 weeks after the cruise. No results from duplicate sampling are available due to analysis problems. Flags and comments apply to chlorophyll values only. Salinity samples were collected in 200 mL type ll glass bottles with disposable plastic inserts and screw caps supplied by Ocean Scientific International Limited. They were analyzed in a temperature-controlled lab at IOS on a Guildline 8400B Salinometer (S/N 68572) standardized with IAPSO standard seawater 17 days after the end of the cruise. There was no duplicate sampling. For see document QF2011-45SAL*.xls. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes. All ananlysis was performed on frozen samples at the Institute of Ocean Sciences. They were analyzed using an Astoria analyzer following methods described in IOS Nutrient Methods (1996) Barwell-Clarke and Whitney. CTD were taken from the downcast at 10db. For some casts there were no CTD data available at the level of bottle closing. Fluorescence and Dissolved Oxygen data are nominal and unedited, except that some records were removed in editing temperature and salinity. All sensors were recalibrated in March or April 2011. There was no calibration sampling for dissolved oxygen. There were no deep salinity calibration bottles, but near-surface samples suggest that the CTD salinity is within ±0.01. The pH:SBE data were not considered suitable for archiving, so that channel was removed.
