Adjustment was made for salinity values (when available) of <= 25 psu. Adjustment equation: Silicate:Corrected = Silicate * [1+((-0.003)*(32-S))] where, Silicate:Corrected = corrected silicate concentration in micromoles/litre Silicate = uncorrected silicate concentration in micromoles/litre -0.003 = salt correction factor 32 = salt concentration of artificial seawater used by the WPG Astoria Pacific continuous flow analyser S = salinity of the sample At Station: FR1, Sample Number: 2, Silicate corrected using Bottle salinity. ===================================================================================== Comments from secondary file: Q:\Cruise_Data_Processing\2010-73\Processing\hydro\2010-73-0001.mrgcln1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Comments from secondary file: Q:\Cruise_Data_Processing\2010-73\Processing\hydro\2010-73-0001.add ------------------------------------------------------------------- Sample_Number 2: bad replicates CTD data from pumped channels have been replaced with pad values because the pumps were not turned on. Analysis methods: ----------------- Oxygen samples were analyzed on an automated Winkler titration system with modifications based on Carpenter (1965) and adhering to WOCE protocols (Culberson et al. 1991). The titration system consisted of a Brinkmann Dosimat (model 765) and a PC 950 Colorimeter. All samples were analyzed at IOS within a week of collection. For details including a duplicate analysis see document 2010-73-oxy.xls. Salinity samples were collected in glass bottles and analyzed on Guildline Autosal model 8400B, S/N 69086, at IOS. Salinometers are standardized with IAPSO standard seawater. Full results are in file 2010-22-sal*.xls. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and stored frozen and later analysed at IOS using an Astoria analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). File "QF 2010-22nuts*.xls" includes the raw data and an analysis of duplicates. References: 1. Carpenter, J.H. 1965. The Chesapeake Bay Institute Technique for the Winkler Dissolved Oxygen Method.
