Adjustment was made for salinity values (when available) of <= 25 psu. Adjustment equation: Silicate:Corrected = Silicate * [1+((-0.003)*(32-S))] where, Silicate:Corrected = corrected silicate concentration in micromoles/litre Silicate = uncorrected silicate concentration in micromoles/litre -0.003 = salt correction factor 32 = salt concentration of artificial seawater used by the WPG Astoria Pacific continuous flow analyser S = salinity of the sample At Station: TS 15, Sample Number: 143, Silicate corrected using CTD salinity. ===================================================================================== Comments from secondary file: Q:\Cruise_Data_Processing\2010-24\Processing\hydro\2010-24-0031.mrgcln1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Comments from secondary file: Q:\Cruise_Data_Processing\2010-24\Processing\hydro\2010-24-0031.nut ------------------------------------------------------------------- Sample_Number 136: Nuts: Does not follow the profile very well Analysis methods: ----------------- Oxygen samples were analyzed at sea using an automated Winkler titration system (Brinkman Dosimat model 765 and a PC 950 Colorimeter) with modifications based on Carpenter (1965) and adhering to WOCE protocols (Culberson 1991). There were only 2 duplicate pairs and 1 of those was poor, so no duplicate statistics were prepared. For details see document 2010-24oxy.xls. Salinity samples were collected in glass bottles and analyzed on Guildline Autosal model 8400B, S/N 69086, at IOS. Salinometers are standardized with IAPSO standard seawater. There was 1 duplicate pair. For details see file 2010-24-sal.xls Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and stored frozen and later analysed at IOS using an Astoria-Pacific analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). File "QF2010-24nuts.xls" includes the raw data and an analysis of duplicates. References: 1. Carpenter, J.H. 1965. The Chesapeake Bay Institute Technique for the Winkler Dissolved Oxygen Method. In August 2010 a study was made of transmissivity that led to a decision to apply corrections to all cruises between March 2008 and June 2010. The data are still considered nominal.
