CTDEDIT was used to remove many records corrupted by shed wakes; salinity was cleaned very lightly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Transmissivity and fluorescence data are nominal and unedited except that some records were removed in editing temperature and salinity. SBE Fluorescence was originally converted using 3X gain, but it should have been 30X; this was corrected by recalibrating that channel. The SBE dissolved oxygen data in the CTD files are considered, roughly: • ±0.3 ml/l from 0– 150db • ±0.1 ml/l from 150– 200db • ±0.03 ml/l below 200db ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******************************************************************************** Transmissometer #1005DR was calibrated in March 2008, and drifted significantly but steadily until July 2009. Then a sudden shift occurred so that values between September 2009 and July 2010 were very low, ~25%/m. After the shift, drift continued at a similar rate to that before the shift. There is some pressure dependence after the shift, so that transmissivity is decreasing with pressure even in deep offshore waters. In August 2010 a study was made of transmissivity that led to a decision to apply post-processing corrections to all cruises between March 2008 and June 2010. Transmissivity data from this cruise were corrected by multiplying the original values by a correction factor 2.087, which was based on assumptions that deep offshore transmissivity from February 2010 and June 2010 Line P cruises should be about 62%/m and that drift was linear with time. The corrections produced reasonable results for other cruises in late 2009. For details on how the correction factor was derived see: OSD_Data_Archive:\Cruise_Data\DOCUMENTS\Transmissometer 1005DR Corrections.doc These data should be considered estimates and even the shape may not be as reliable as usual. ******************************************************************************** *CALIBRATION $TABLE: CORRECTED CHANNELS !
