Between the intake and the pump is a 24 x 24-cm stainless steel strainer (1/2-cm grid). The pump is a Moyno model 2L6 stainless steel progressive cavity pump with flow and pressure control. In the lab, the seawater flows through a deairator (56-cm x15-cm diameter plexiglass cylinder) to remove air bubbles and then into the Seabird model 21 Seacat thermosalinograph. ********************************************************************** Fluorescence is nominal. Temperature Primary: The intake temperature was unreliable for this file. As a proxy for intake temperature, the temperature of the water as it came out of the loop in the lab was recalibrated to remove the heating due to ship effects. This correction was based on historical observations, and comparison with CTD temperatures at 4db. Temperature Lab: This is the uncorrected temperature recorded by the TSG. The salinity has been recalibrated. It was clearly low, by from 0.14 to 0.22, A choice of +0.17 was made in recalibration; that is slightly larger than the comparisons with loop samples suggest when outliers are excluded, and part way between the mean and median of the CTD vs TSG comparison. There is more uncertainty than usual because problems were encountered with both salinometers. Salinity is considered to be ±0.03 salinity units. !----1----- ---2---- ----3---- ---4---- ---5---- ---6---- ---7--- ----8---- -----9----- !
