Chlorophyll precision was determined by analyzing replicate samples drawn from one Niskin. For details see worksheet “Precision” in file QF2008-10CHL.xls. Oxygen samples were analyzed on an automated Winkler titration system following the procedures of Carpenter (1965). Samples were analyzed at sea using an automated titration system consisting of a Brinkman Dosimat (model 665) and a PC 900 Colorimeter. For details on precision see file 2008-10-oxy-duplicates.xls. Salinity samples were collected in glass bottles and analyzed on a Guildline model 8400B Autosal at IOS or a Guildline Portasal 8410A at sea. Salinometers are standardized with IAPSO standard seawater. See file 2008-10-sal-duplicates.xls for information on precision. Nutrient samples were analyzed at sea using an Astoria-Pacific analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). For details on nutrient duplicates and precision see file QF2008-10nuts M.xls. Ammonia samples were analyzed at sea using a TD700 fluorometer. For details on precision see document QF2008-10NH4.xls.
