Analysis methods: ----------------- Salinity samples were collected in glass bottles and analyzed on a Guildline model 8400B Autosal Salinometer (serial #68572) which was standardized with IAPSO standard seawater. For details see report "SWL2008-04 Salinity Data MS_Jan0609.xls" Dissolved oxygen concentrations were measured on board the Sir Wilfrid Laurier For details on the analysis including a study of replicates see reports "Dissolved Oxygen Analysis ReportMarch18.doc" and "2008-04DO_April9_09.xls". Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and stored frozen and later analysed at IOS. For details on analysis and quality checks including replicates, see file "Frozen_NUT to transfer SWL 2008_04,2009.xls". Chlorophyll a samples were collected in 1L polypropylene bottles, filtered immediately onto 5mm polypropylene and 0.7mm glass fiber filters, and frozen at -20oC until analyzed. All samples were extracted with 90% acetone and analyzed with a Turner Designs 10AU field fluorometer (previously calibrated with pure chlorophyll extract); phaeopigment interference was corrected for by acidification with hydrochloric acid (HCl), as per the method outlined by Strickland and Parsons (1972).
