Analysis methods: ----------------- Chlorophyll samples were analyzed at sea using a Chemistry Turner Designs fluorometer which was calibrated in May 2007 using pure chlorophyll a. HPLC samples were filtered onto 25mm GF/F filters and stored at -80C prior to analysis. Oxygen samples are analyzed on an automated Winkler titration system following the procedures of Carpenter (1965). Salinity samples were collected in glass bottles and analyzed on a Guildline model 8400B Autosal or a Guildline Portasal 8410A. Salinometers are standardized with IAPSO standard seawater.
