The at-sea computer taken for sample analysis had the incorrect flask.vol file. In place of the actual flask number in use, the analyst used flask numbers that the flask.vol file did contain, so the samples could be titrated. Oxygen samples are analyzed on an automated Winkler titration system following the procedures of Carpenter (1965). A Brinkmann model 665 Dosimat and model PC910 Colorimeter is controlled by Visual-Basic program to titrate the oxygen samples. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic test tubes. Nutrient samples were analyzed by Wendy Richardson fresh on board using a Technicon AAII auto-analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). Chlorophyll-a was analyzed on board JP Tully using the Chemistry Turner Designs Fluorometer. The fluorometer was calibrated against pure chlorophyll a (from Sigma) on February 17, 2005.
