There were many problems with the CTD on this cruise. The differences between temperature sensors varied according to whether the CTD was moving or not and upcasts look quite different from downcasts. The primary salinity was usually cleaner than the secondary, but for casts #31 and #40 there were sudden shifts in primary values. The post-cruise calibration suggests that the sensors were reading lower than was shown in the bottle comparison, but since there is likely a source of error besides sensor drift, the bottle comparison was used to recalibrate. There remains some doubt about the CTD salinity which may be low by up to 0.004psu.
