The average of 2 samples is reported. Variability is assessed as the % (std dev/mean*100). Salinity samples are collected in glass bottles and analyzed on Guildline model 8410 Portasal Salinometers which are standardized with IAPSO standard seawater. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and stored frozen and later analysed at IOS using a Technicon AAII analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). For the results of all analyses see file "2001-36.xls". References: 1. Barwell-Clarke, J. and Whitney, F. 1996. Institute of Ocean Sciences Nutrient Methods and Analysis. There is some confusion about the depth of sampling, but a close examination of CTD records show that for at least some of the casts there was a stop at about 7m, so a nominal depth of 5m was assumed for the near-surface bottles. There were also some deep bottles which had clear records of the depth at which they were closed. For some casts there were no CTD available at the sampling level. Transmissivity data are nominal. For details on the processing see processing report: 2001-36-Processing_Report.doc. References: 1. Barwell-Clarke, J. and Whitney, F. 1996. Institute of Ocean Sciences Nutrient Methods and Analysis.
