Analysis methods: ----------------- Salinity samples are collected in glass bottles and analyzed on Guildline model 8410 Portasal Salinometers which are standardized with IAPSO standard seawater. Oxygen samples are analyzed on an automated Winkler titration system following the procedures of Carpenter (1965). A Brinkmann model 665 Dosimat and model PC910 Colorimeter is controlled by Visual-Basic program to titrate the oxygen samples. Nutrient samples are analyzed fresh on board using a Technicon AAII auto- analyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). Chlorophyll was extracted with 90% acetone and analyzed fluorimetrically. CFC-11 and CFC-12, in their current form, do not meet the relaxed WOCE standard for CFC's. Therefore the CFC qulaity flags have been given a value of'3'(questionable). For CFC methods refer to the "Ocean Science and Productivity Division Line P cruises 9829, 9901 and 9910 CFC Data Report" located in the cruise .DOC directory. . References: 1. Carpenter, J.H. 1965. Summary of Hydrographic/CTD Observations Made Along Line P and at Station P: 1991-1999. Canadian Data Report of Hydrography and Ocean Sciences 156: 45 pp. Dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and total alkalinity (TA) were collected together in the same 250 or 500 mL glass bottles closed with greased ground glass stoppers and sealed with elastic clamps. Samples were stored in the dark at 4 degrees C until analysis ashore. DIC was analyzed using a SOMMA coulometric titration of CO2 purged from the sample after acidification. TA was determined by potentiometric acid titration with endpoints determined using modified gran plots.
