The pressures of the bottle trips are also from the uncorrected upcast data. For casts 2 to 30, the ctd temperature, salinity, transmissivity and fluorometer data are from the calibrated and corrected downcasts. The pressures of the bottle trips are also from the uncorrected upcast data. Dissolved oxygen concentrations were determined using an automated Titration system consisting of a Brinkman Dosimat (model 665) and a PC 900 Colorimeter. Nutrients were measured using an Autoanalyzer II, following the Procedures outlined in 'Institute of Ocean Sciences Nutrient Methods and Analysis, Barwell-Clarke and Whitney, 1997'. The samples were frozen on board and brought back to IOS for analysis by contract. Nitrate/silicate samples were defrosted for about 24 hours before analysis. Phosphate samples were rapidly defrosted in moving room temperature air or warm water. Lab temperature was noted periodically, and may be found on the original data sheets; it was generally around 23 C. Samples were inverted and shaken before analysis. See file 9905nutr.xls for details on the nutrient analysis, turbidity corrections and calibration for the nutrient data. For the nutrients, a total of 189 samples were measured and of these, 25 samples were measured in duplicate to estimate variability and the pooled standard deviations are as follows: Nitrate Sp=0.372 uM for 25 pairs; Silicate Sp=0.715 uM for 25 pairs Phosphate Sp=0.042 uM for 25 pairs.
