N/Si samples were defrosted 24 h, P were defrosted 1 h." "Nutrient analysis was performed on an Autoanalyzer II, following the methods outlined in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney, 1997." "These samples were rapidly frozen in isopropanol, and as is usual with the method," some of the PO4 samples were contaminated with alcohol. Since no replicate samples "were taken, the effect of the alcohol contamination or other factors on the variability" of the data is unknown. An insoluble crystalline substance was noted in many of the samples. Samples originating in waters with less than 27 ppt salinity were selected for turbidity analysis.
