PLATFORM : Pandora II *INSTRUMENT TYPE : Bottle MODEL : 1.7 L Niskin *COMMENTS Analyzes methods: ----------------- Temperatures at depth were measured by deep-sea reversing thermometers of German (Richter and Wiese) and/or Japanese (Yoshimo Keiki Co.) manufacture. Two protected thermometers were used on all bottles, and one unprotected thermometer was used on each bottle at depths of 200 m or greater. The accuracy of protected reversing thermometers is believed to be +-0.02C. Salinities were analyzed on board with an Autolab inductive salinometer. Accuracy using duplicate determinations is estimated to be +-0.003 ppt. The dissolved oxygen analyses were done in the shipboard laboratory by a modified Winkler method (Carpenter, 1965). Nutrient samples were stored frozen unfiltered. Analysis for nutrients were carried out on a Technicon II auto-analyser using the methods outlined in the reference Manual for Ocean Chemistry sampling techniques (1976). Particulate Solids were analyzed immediately on a TA II Coulter counter with a 200 u aperture. Samples for Stns 30,31,32 were stored too long before analysis and have been deleted. Reference: 1.
