Chlorphyll and Productivity samples were Collected in Van Dorn samplers. Analyzes methods: ----------------- Surface water temperatures were measured from a bucket sample using a deck thermometer of +-0.1 degrees Celsius accuracy. The salinity determinations were made on a Bissett-Berman laboratory salinometer model 6220. Accuracy using duplicate determinations is estimated to be +/- 0.003 ppt. Chlorophyll a, milligrams pigment per cubic meter, determined by the method given in Bulletin No. 67, Fisheries Research Board. of Canada 1968 using Parsons & Strickland equation. Nitrate nitrogen, microgram atoms per liter by the method given in Bulletin No. 167, Fisheries Research Board of Canada. Observed photosynthesis, milligrams carbon per cubic meter per hour. Samples from the indicated depths were incubated in daylight under simulated in-situ conditions for the indicated time period (mainly around midday Pacific time, check report cited in reference 1 for exact times). Determined by the measurement of Carbon-14 uptake. References: 1.
