    Chlorophyll a, milligrams per cubic meter, determined by the method given
    in Bull. #125, Fish. Res. Bd. of Canada, 1960.

    Observed photosynthesis, milligrams carbon per cubic meter per hour.
    Samples were taken from the surface and from five depths corresponding to
    the transmission of light by a graded series of neutral density filters.
    The samples were incubated in daylight under simulated in situ conditions.
