Temperatures were obtained, when possible, with paired reversing thermometers (accuracy ±0.01 °C). Surface temperatures were measured in a bucket with a standard surface thermometer(accuracy ±0.1 °C). Salinity determinations were carried out on a University of Washington type conductivity salinometer or an Australian (CSIRO) type of inductive salinometer (accuracy is ±0.01 PPT). Dissolved oxygen determinations were conducted by the modified Winkler Method according to the procedures described by Strickland and Parsons (1965). Reference: Waldichuk, M. , J. R. Markert and J.
