Surface samples were taken by plastic bucket and subsurface samples by Van Dorn samplers, usually at 6 depths to a minimum of 40 m and more commonly to a depth of 50 m. Analyzes methods: ----------------- Plant pigments were measured by the modification of the Richards with Thompson (1952)method. described by Strickland and Parsons (1960). Productivity samples were taken from the surface and from 5 depths which matched the percentage transmission of light by a graded series of neutral density filters. The samples were incubated in daylight simulating in-situ conditions. References: 1. Stephens, K., MS, 1964. Data Record.
