Temperatures were obtained, when possible, with paired reversing thermometers (accuracy ±0.01 C). Surface temperatures were measured in a bucket with a standard surface thermometer(accuracy ±0.1 C). Salinity was determined on a salinometer at the base laboratory. The salinity data have an accuracy of ±0.01 PPT. Dissolved oxygen determinations were conducted by the modified Winkler Method according to the procedures described by Strickland and Parsons (1965). Reference: Waldichuk, M. , J. H. Meikle and W.F.
