Time is the bottle trip times or BT times Temperature:RT are reference temperatures collected by reversing thermometers attached to Ekman water sampling bottles. Accuracy is +-0.02C Temperature:BT are taken from bathythermograph (BT) slides and corrected using the reversing thermometer as reference temperatures. A percision of +- 0.1C is expected. Salinity samples were drawn from the Ekman water sampling bottles. The Mohr method of analysis was employed to obtain salinity. Accuracy of the salinity determinations is +- 0.03PSU. Oxygen determined by titration. No mention of the procedure used was given, but we suspect that the Winkler Method was used. Accuracies of +-0.03ml/l are possible using the Winkler Method. ?? $END *COMMENTS Data entry for the 1948 Chatham Sound data set was done under contract by Rosalie Rutka of Pacific Software Developments Ltd., Victoria, BC. Contract supervion was by Dr. S. Tabata and Mr. D. Stucchi of IOS. In the comment lines from either the bridge log or data log anything enclosed in square brackets are comments made by Raslie Rutka.
