All values were replaced with pad values and flag 5. Analysis methods: ----------------- Salinity samples were collected in glass bottles and analyzed on a Guildline model 8400B Autosal or a Guildline Portasal 8410A. Salinometers are standardized with IAPSO standard seawater. See file 2008-001_SAL.pdf for information on precision and duplicates. Oxygen samples were analyzed on an automated Winkler titration system following the procedures of Carpenter (1965). Samples were analyzed at sea using an automated titration system consisting of a Brinkman Dosimat (model 665) and a PC 900 Colorimeter. For details on precision see file 2008-001_OXY.pdf. Nutrient samples were collected in plastic tubes and analyzed fresh at sea using a Technicon AAII autoanalyzer following methods described in Barwell-Clarke and Whitney (1996). For details on nutrient duplicates and precision see file 2008-001_NUT.pdf. Chlorophyll samples were analyzed at sea using a Chemistry Turner Designs fluorometer which was calibrated in May 2007 using pure chlorophyll a. Chlorophyll precision was determined by analyzing replicate samples drawn from one Niskin. For details see file 2008-001_CHL.pdf. The minimum detectable level for DMS is 0.10 nM, so “0” values should be interpreted as <0.10. For details on the collection and analysis of the DMS data see file 2008-001_DMS_report.pdf. For details on duplicates see file 2008-001_DMS.pdf. Dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) was determined using coulometric analysis. Total alkalinity (Alk) was determined by potentiometric titration. pH on the total hydrogen ion concentration scale was determined photometrically and is reported at 25C and surface pressure. For duplicates and precision of DIC, ALK and pH samples see files 2008-001_DIC.pdf, 2008-001_ALK.pdf, and 2008-001_pH.pdf respectively. HPLC samples were filtered onto 25mm GF/F filters and stored at -80C prior to analysis. Samples were extracted in 95% methanol at -20C for 24 hours and analyzed on a WATERS 2695 HPLC separations system as detailed in Nemcek and Pena, 2014. Analysis was performed ~2 weeks after collection. The average of two samples is reported. Variability is assessed as the %CV (std dev/mean*100) for duplicate pairs.
